Our Location

Chimneys Guest House is located on the A677 (Preston New Road) - very close to Blackburn town centre (10 minutes walking distance). There is a BP fuel station (open 24 hrs), which has a ‘Subway’ (submarine sandwich restaurant) and grocery store (open 24 hrs), along with ATM cash machine; all within 100 meters.

Blackburn has a vibrant and historic Asian quarter called the Whalley Range Bazaar, which has fantastic restaurants, cafes and shops, to rival Manchester’s famous ‘Curry Mile’. The Bazar is 10 minutes’ walk from Chimneys. 

​

There is a wide range of restaurants, cafes, bars and outlets for eating and drinking. The Mall Blackburn shopping complex in the town centre is just 15 minutes walking distance from Chimneys. It has an extensive list of high street brands and leading retailers.

​

Blackburn was once known as the "weaving capital of the world" Discover the stories behind Blackburn's historic buildings, cotton and weaving. The Heritage Trail (see attraction guide below) will take you around 31 of Blackburn's historical sites.

Getting Around

Airports

Manchester international airport serves around 200 destinations worldwide. It is 40 miles away and takes 50 minutes by car. Train services run from Blackburn via Bolton and takes 1h20m.

 

Liverpool John Lenon international airport is 50 miles away and takes 1 hour by car. It serves domestic, European and North American destinations.

Buses

Blackburn has a new modern bus station with excellent digital and passenger facilities for comfort, and cheaper than train services to all major towns and cities in the UK, including direct services to London via National Express Coach. The bus stop to Preston and Blackburn bus stations are approximately 10 meters from Chimneys Guest House.

Trains

Blackburn train station provides direct services to the great cities of the North of England, including Preston (20mins), Manchester (49mins), Bradford (1h09m), Leeds (1h36m) and York (2h06m). Preston train station has direct connection to London (2h10m), Glasgow (2h18m), Edinburgh (2h23m), Liverpool (1h02m) Manchester (40m), Lancaster (12m) and Birmingham (1h40m), connecting you to all cities and airports in the UK.

 

Road

We are only 10 minutes drive from the M6, (junction 31), M65 (junction 6) and M61 (junction 9). Preston city centre is less than 10 miles away and 20 minutes’ drive.
